Not afraid of a challenge, JudoScotland launched a pilot programme in 2014 to increase female participation. The Judo Girls Rock programme was an undoubted success. Through effective collaboration with local clubs, sporting influencers and coach education the programme boosted junior female membership by 13.7%. How did JudoScotland succeed in a time where so many sports experience dropping numbers? They addressed a specific problem by looking for ways to answer the question, ‘what stops a group from taking part in Judo?’
