Qualified teacher, Les Mills trainer and well-respected health and fitness professional, Nats is all about movement in any form. She believes every female deserves to feel strong, empowered and unstoppable. In Nats’ words “Love life and it will love you back!”
What physical activities do you currently do?
I work at Les Mills so a lot of Group Fitness classes. I also do some strength training – bodyweight or with weights – and have just finished netball for the season
What does it mean to you to be physically active?
To get your body moving however it likes to move … whether that is dancing, running, sports, gym, outdoors, indoors…just move
What advice would you give girls looking to get physically active?
Just start with a small achievable goal and think about why it is important to you. Stick this goal on your fridge and tick off the days that you do move. Get friends and loved ones to help hold you accountable- so tell them about it. It is satisfying checking a list once you are done. You build positive momentum once you get going and this gets you sticking to your goal. A schedule and routine will keep you moving once motivation wanes
What do you think would make more girls take up sport and recreation?
Squad goals – doing it with friends, making it social and appealing to the FUN, not the aesthetics
How do we make it fun for girls to be physically active?
Gather groups of them together with FOOD – afterwards or during. Great music and a party like vibe helps too. The opportunity to meet influencers and people they regard in high esteem is helpful
Are there any sports/recreation activities you’d like to try?
I like the fitness involved in boxing and am quite keen to learn a new sport for summer… maybe water polo or touch
