Taekwon-Do is the most popular martial art in the world and can be practiced as both an art and a combat sport. As an art the focus is on movements, steps and shapes that represent fighting situations. As a combat sport the aim is to score points by tagging your opponent with kicks.
Why is it good for me?
The physical aspects of training will develop your agility, co-ordination, balance, strength, fitness, motor skills and more, while the mental aspects develop strength of character and confidence.
How much will it cost me?
Taekwon-Do clubs may offer one or more free sessions to see if it is for you. After these you can expect to pay around $60 as a joining fee and then a monthly training fee ranges from $35-$60. Contact your nearest club for more information on costs.
What do I need to play?
You don’t need any equipment when you start off – but if you decide to continue you will need a uniform. Clubs will be able to point you in the right direction on where to buy one from. Clubs should provide all other equipment as you progress up the ranks.
